TypeTails is a free typing practice site: typing games, lessons and a typing speed test. You do not need an account, and nothing you type in a game, lesson or test is sent to our servers. This page lists exactly what data the site does handle.

What stays in your browser

Your progress is saved only in your own browser (localStorage), so it is gone if you clear site data or switch device:

  • tt_scores – best score, last score and number of plays per game, lesson and test
  • tt_pet – Pet Room care points, daily streak and games played
  • tt_lessons – which typing lessons you have completed
  • tt_mute and color-theme – your sound and light/dark settings

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and games are used. It records page views, approximate location, device and browser type, and a few game events (for example the game name, final score, words per minute and accuracy when a game, lesson or test ends). Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga. Google processes this data under its own policy: Google. You can block it with your browser settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out add-on.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which also provides privacy-first, cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics and processes standard request data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site.

Other services the pages load

  • Fonts from Google Fonts (your browser requests them from Google servers)
  • A few decorative images and avatars from Unsplash, Transparent Textures and DiceBear

Children

TypeTails is made for learners of all ages. We do not ask for names, emails or any other personal information, and we do not run ads.

Changes

If we add a new tool that handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. More about the project: About TypeTails.
