About Console Hack

Console Hack casts you as an intruder breaking into enemy terminals. Instead of everyday vocabulary, you type command strings, file paths and code fragments packed with numbers, dashes and symbols while a trace timer counts down.

That character mix is exactly why the game exists: it drills accuracy on the number row and punctuation keys that ordinary word drills never touch. Programmers and sysadmins will feel at home; everyone else gets a taste of the keys they usually avoid. This is one of the more advanced challenges on TypeTails.

If the symbol strings keep tripping you up, spend ten minutes in our number-row lessons first, then come back and watch the terminals fall. Our guide to typing code, symbols and alternative layouts has a weekly plan for exactly these keys.
